It is not possible to give a price until I have seen the text to be translated but I will send you a quote on the day of the request!

I work on the basis of a fixed price per document or a word rate based on the number of words of the source text. The price of a translation depends on the complexity of the text, its length and the desired delivery time. The file format also determines the price: a scanned document with handwritten pieces of text takes more time to translate than a Word document. Of course, all types of documents are of welcome, regardless of the file format. I always make a neat and clear translation. For sworn translations and urgent translations, I add a surcharge.

Sworn translations (also called certified translations) are drawn up by a sworn (certified) translator who is registered in the Netherlands in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). These are translators who meet the quality requirements set by law (Wbtv) and are subject to continuous education requirements, They must constantly retrain to stay registered.

A sworn translation is signed, stamped and certified by the translator. Sworn statements are often required if the translation is requested by a government authority. But by no means all translations delivered by sworn translators actually need to be sworn. Sworn translators certainly also deliver ‘regular’ translations. There are also many legal translations (e.g. contracts or general terms and conditions) that do not need to be sworn.

Translations from Spanish to Dutch and from Dutch to Spanish will be certified by myself. Translations from English to Dutch and from Dutch to English will be delivered in collaboration with fellow translators. Of course, I will ensure the quality of these translations.

Whether you need a sworn translation depends on the purpose of the translation. For example, many legal documents, such as contracts, do not need to be sworn at all. However, documents to be used abroad, such as diplomas, instruments of the civil registry and court decisions, often need to be certified. For sworn translations, every translator will add a surcharge, because more work is involved in delivering a certified translation. For example, special paper must is used, the layout must be correct, a statement by the translator is attached and the original documents are added to the translation. Not to mention that sworn translators must constantly invest in their professional development through periodic training.
