About

Who am I?

Martine van Krieken-Boersma, BA, LLM, PhD, but you can just call me Martine. Nice to meet you! I combine my work as a lawyer in company and labour law with my own business as a translator and copywriter: Magister Translations. In order to become a translator, I studied Spanish translation at ITV University of Applied Sciences for Interpreting and Translation in Utrecht and followed several professional courses.

My legal knowledge comes in very handy in the drafting of ‘masterful’ legal translations. I translate from Spanish and English into Dutch and vice versa. Of course, I know very well how important (and often complicated) legal terminology is. That is why I pay special attention to the correct terminology and its consistent use. Besides legal translations, I also specialise in general business and commercial translations , for marketing, and tourism and real estate in particular.

I have a lot of experience as a writer so I can write catchy copy for you in Dutch. Or maybe your Dutch text needs a fresh pair of eyes? If so, you can engage my proofreading and editing services. I am happy to help you to achieve your business goals.

The typewriter in my company logo is a nod to the craft of translators and copywriters. But rest assured, I work with the latest translation technology, such as CAT tools. And I am a member of the Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV) and of Tekstnet, the professional association of copywriters.

How can I help you?

I love working for legal professionals. Are you a lawyer, barrister, solicitor, notary or bailiff in the Netherlands or abroad? As a fellow lawyer, I fully understand how important it is to quickly receive a procedural document or another document in the right language for your client. In my legal practice, I specialise in corporate, labour and contract law, but I can deliver legal translations in all areas of law.

I also work for companies in various industries. In recent years, I got to know many companies and their employees, so I speak the language of both the lawyer and the entrepreneur. I have a special connection with the tourism and real estate industry. That is why I also specialise in tourism translations and real estate translations , for example on the purchase of real estate or the rental of holiday homes. I enjoy helping real estate agents, property developers, travel organisations and hotels. And not only with translations: you can also contact me for a fresh and effective Dutch text. This Dutch text can also be translated into English or Spanish, if required.

I collaborate with translation agencies too and you can even hire me if you are a private individual. Are you coming to the Netherlands as an expat? Or are you Dutch and emigrating abroad? Are you planning to buy a charming Spanish holiday home? If so, I would be happy to help you with the translation work that involves. That way, you can start your new adventure with peace of mind.
